Plan
Dear Fellow Republican,
As I launch my campaign for state chairman of the Republican Party of Texas, I want you to know I have a vision and a specific plan for the renewal of our party that leverages our tremendous grassroots energy, that is based on the principles and values that built our majority, and that will improve our collective campaign effort to elect Republicans at all levels. The following is an outline of my vision, and in successive days you will hear greater detail from me about each one of these specific points.
Thank you, and God bless you.

I have a specific plan to renew our party by rejuvenating the grassroots, reinvigorating our fundraising, and re-dedicating ourselves to winning key races that will determine the makeup of the legislature and our congressional delegation. Here is my vision:
1) Continue the trend of building our party from the grassroots up, and not from the top down. While we will work closely with our elected leaders and Republican donors, our party will be driven by the grassroots. You are the ones who labor in the campaigns, shape our platform, and who built a majority. With your help, we will keep it and grow it! { Read More }
2) Re-engage the Republican donor community to improve major donor fundraising and dedicate more resources to winning targeted races. { Read More }
3) Take the fight to the true opposition: Democrats who support liberal Obama policies that will bankrupt the country and rob future generations of economic prosperity. It is okay for members of our party to discuss differences, but ultimately we need to unite together to defeat the Democrat agenda of higher taxes, bigger government and hostility toward unborn life. No longer will Democrat leaders go unchallenged when they attack Republican office-holders. We will hold them accountable! { Read More }
4) Broaden the party's appeal to Hispanics and other minorities who share our pro-life, pro-family, free enterprise philosophy. We need more than the right words – we need to proactively include Hispanics, African-Americans and other minorities. Our state is already majority minority. Our public school system is two-thirds minority. Take that not as a warning sign, but an opportunity. Let’s include the burgeoning minority middle class in our party! { Read More }
5) Revitalize outreach to College Republicans, training the next generation of conservative leaders. If we don’t act, and act soon, we will lose an entire generation to the Obama Democrats who all too often feel disenfranchised by our party. I have already begun outreach to include College Republicans and Young Republicans in my campaign. They will be an active part of our effort because they are the next generation of political leaders. { Read More }
6) Strengthen our alliance with elected officials from the courthouse to the state house. Yes, we need to hold Republicans accountable who campaign as conservatives and govern as liberals. But, we also need to reach out to Republican elected officials, and let them know we have their back when they advance conservative principles. Let’s re-build bridges with our candidates, aggressively funding and supporting their campaigns. Our active presence and good faith efforts will draw us closer together, and ultimately lead to more effective conservative governance. { Read More }
7) Shore up candidate recruitment. I will hit the road in targeted races to recruit the best candidates possible for the 2010 election cycle, which will determine which party draws the legislative and congressional lines for the next decade. I will work to find fresh, conservative faces who epitomize the future of Texas, and who will lead us there.{ Read More }
8) Expand accountability by the SREC of RPT activities and expenditures. I want the 62 members of the SREC to have a larger role in governance of the party. Transparency is vital to the long-term health of our party. I welcome that kind of oversight.{ Read More }
9) Strengthen relationships with allies and auxiliaries. There is no need for several organizations attempting the exact same goal – such as funding key races. I will coordinate with our allies and third parties to make sure we are all working together to elect the best candidates.{ Read More }
10) Proactively take our message of limited government conservatism to the press and public. We need more shoe leather. Technology tools are great, and we will use them more than ever, but we need to do traditional things too, such as hold press conferences and take the hard questions from the press. We believe in our ideas, and need to defend them with an active presence.{ Read More }
