1) Continue the trend of building our party from the grassroots up, and not from the top down. While we will work closely with our elected leaders and Republican donors, our party will be driven by the grassroots. You are the ones who labor in the campaigns, shape our platform, and who built a majority. With your help, we will keep it and grow it!

The Republican Party is the only Party that remains “of the people, by the people, and for the people.” Our ideas do not come from ivory tower think tanks or elitist politicians who think they know what’s best for everyone. Our platform does not come down from above, but up from the people—from the will of the governed, not the whims of those who govern. Our principles are rooted in the values, freedoms, and beliefs of ordinary Texans. Our Party has grown out of the grassroots—and we will not be uprooted.

The strength of our Party is not in politicians, but in people, in the tens of thousands of Texans who sweat and toil to elect leaders who share and support their principles. We will never let the desires of any one person, no matter his or her office, overshadow the basic wants and needs of ordinary hard-working Texans. Texans want unlimited opportunity—and that means limited government. We will never let the political, financial, or ideological interests of any small group trump the interests of the whole—which is exactly what is happening in Washington right now, and what will happen in Texas soon enough if we do not act.

The people have spoken, loudly and clearly, for over two hundred years. They have said that they believe in “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” This is the bedrock of the Republican Party. There is no compromise when it comes to these core principles. There will always be issues to be debated and legislated, but there can be no disagreement on our founding principles. We are, and shall remain, a grassroots Party. And with your help, a government of, by, and for the people shall not perish from this earth.
